Washington Programs
Puget Sound Electric EV Charger Rebate
PSE offers rebates for residential electric customers who purchase and install a qualifying Level 2 EV home charger.
Rebate Options:
- Up to $300 for the purchase of an eligible EV home charger.
- Up to $600 rebate for qualifying customers, based on household income and size, through the Empower Mobility program.
- Additional support of up to $2,000 for installation costs for those who qualify for enhanced incentives.

Home Energy Efficiency Improvement Tax Credit
This tax credit encourages energy-efficient upgrades to your home by offering incentives for specific improvements.
Eligible upgrades include:
- Replacements or upgrades to electrical panelboards, sub-panelboards, branch circuits, or feeders.
- Panels with a load capacity of 200 amps or higher.
- Upgrades that meet National Electric Code standards and support energy-efficient systems or property.
- Maximum credit: $600.
New EV Clean Energy Tax Credit
(2022 and Older)
This credit provides up to $7,500 for the purchase of eligible new electric cars or light trucks.
Requirements include:
- Vehicles with an external charging capability.
- Vehicles weighing less than 14,000 pounds.
- Manufacturers with fewer than 200,000 EVs sold in the U.S.
New EV Clean Energy Tax Credit
(2023 and Newer)
For vehicles placed into service in 2023 or later, this tax credit offers up to $7,500.
Eligibility requirements include:
- Plug-in electric vehicles (EVs) or fuel cell vehicles (FCVs).
- Income caps of $300,000 for couples, $225,000 for heads of households, and $150,000 for individual filers.
- Vehicles with at least 7 kWh battery capacity and weighing less than 14,000 pounds.
Used EV Tax Credit
Starting January 1, 2023, this credit provides up to $4,000 for the purchase of a qualifying used EV or FCV from a licensed dealer.
Requirements include:
- Sale price of $25,000 or less.
- The model year must be at least two years older than the purchase year.
- Income limits: $150,000 for couples, $112,500 for heads of households, and $75,000 for individual filers.
EV Charging Station Tax Credit
Tax credits are available for those who purchase and install eligible alternative fuel vehicle refueling property, including EV chargers.
Eligibility includes:
- 30% of the cost or $1,000 for home installations.
- 6% (or 30% if wage and apprenticeship requirements are met) or $100,000 for commercial properties and tax-exempt organizations.
